Lisa Cerullo-Belinn, PhD, MHS, LCSW will present, "Trauma and Addiction: Working with individuals with PTSD and Substance Use Disorders".


This presentation will focus on the intersection between trauma and substance misuse, describe trauma-informed care in the context of substance use disorders, identify screening and assessment tools and procedures, and introduce interventions for social workers working with individuals who are diagnosed as co-occurring, with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Substance Use Disorder (SUD).

Course Objectives:

  • Dissemination of information on the neurobiology of addiction and trauma.
  • Exploration of the relationship between trauma and addiction.
  • Provision of a knowledge base that social workers can use to identify and assess  clients who are using substances.
  • Recommendation of empirically supported interventions for clients with co-occurring disorders of PTSD and SUD.


*Please Note:  This training is actually part of our Post-Grad Trauma Certificate Program.  Were pleased to offer the Friday trainings to other professionals but we charge everyone who has not already paid for the Certificate program, including current field instructors, a fee of $50.00.
